During the period 2-4 November 2010, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway, PSA, carried out an audit of Skarv FPSO at the Samsung shipyard in Geoje, South Korea. The audit targeted the establishment of an emergency preparedness organisation and the facility’s technical emergency preparedness solutions.
The activities were carried out through interviews of relevant personnel and verifications on board the facility.
The audit was related to BP Norge’s (BPN’s) future application for consent to use Skarv FPSO. During the audit, the facility was undergoing commissioning at the shipyard in South Korea. The plan is to start activity on the Norwegian continental shelf in 2011 with this facility.
The objective of this task was to verify that BPN ensures that Skarv FPSO is built in accordance with regulatory requirements within the area of emergency preparedness.
The PSA did not identify any nonconformities during the audit, but several improvement items were identified.
“Skarv FPSO appears to be a robust facility” says the PSA audit.
