Most mariners think little about the wildlife under the keel, any more than pilots think about butterflies but this little critter, as our American cousins would call it, caught MAC’s eye in New Scientist.

It’s a sort of deep sea Pacific Ocean wormy thingy (MAC’s grasp of scientific terminology stands next to no man) that fires ‘fire bombs’ or flare whatsits.

They remind MAC of John Wyndham’s creepy science fiction novel The Kraken Wakes.
