imageThree fishermen are currently being winched to safety after the fishing vessel they were on ran aground at Innellan, River Clyde this evening.

The 11 metre Fishing Vessel Avalon contacted Clyde Coastguard at 9:20pm informing them that they were about to go aground and had three people aboard.
Clyde Coastguard immediately sent the Dunoon Coastguard Rescue team and requested the launch of the Largs RNLI lifeboat to the scene. A Rescue helicopter from RNAS Prestwick has been scrambled.

Richard Morgans, Watch Manager, Clyde Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, said: “
The crew of the fishing vessel have now been winched to safety and will be taken to Battery Park, Greenock. The vessel is now hard aground. Counter Pollution and the MAIB have been informed and the situation is being monitored, currently the risk of pollution is small.”

The weather conditions on scene are easterly force 4.
